On March 9th the International Socialist Organization
is holding its second annual DC socialist conference
entitled, A World of War and Poverty: We Need a
Socialist Alternative!

It is a day to debate and discuss how to change the
world, one struggle at a time. Such a day is clearly
needed.

Bush has promised that 2002 would be a “year of war”.
Layoffs, attacks on civil liberties, and racial
profiling are affecting ordinary people all over the
U.S. But there is also a fightback brewing. We have
seen revolt against destructive free-market policies
in Argentina. The Enron scandal exposed to the country
the price of corporate greed. The 15,000 strong
demonstration against the World Economic Forum in New
York City showed the Global Justice movement is alive
and well.

The possibilities for resistance are great, but
politics are key to making that happen. Please join us
for a day to debate and discuss these issues with
leading activists and fighters in today’s struggles.
The day is to talk about how to build our fightback,
but also how to fight for an alternative to free
market capitalism. A socialist society, where people
come before profits. Another world is possible.
In solidarity,
