Anacostia at 12:00 noon.
Meet at 11 am Birney Elementary School at the
corner of MLK Rd. and Sumner Rd. which is just south of the
Frederick
Douglas Memorial Bridge on MLK Rd. and about 2/3 rds of a
mile south of
the Anacostia Metro stop on MLK Rd. Bring banners and signs which point
to the justice efforts of your organization. Bring drums,
noise makers, puppets and flags. The parade route is about 3 miles long.

Day of Resistance and Shadow Inaugural March and Rally at
the Supreme
Court— gather at 10 am; rally and ceremonies begin at 11 am,
Stanton
Park, near the Supreme Court (see below). The Supreme Court
demonstration
was initiated by Rev. Al Sharpton and the National Action
Network. It
now
includes in leadership: Ron Daniels/Center for
Constitutional Rights,
Walter Fauntroy/National Black Leadership Roundtable, the
Southern
Christian Leadership Conference, Martin Luther King III and
the Detroit
chapter of the NAACP.
The demonstration will assemble at the 6th St. NE
end of Stanton Park, which runs between 4th and 6th
Streets NE,
intersected by Maryland Ave. NE, just a few blocks from the
Supreme
Court
and by Imani Temple Church.
By Metro, take the Red Line to Union
Station
and walk toward the Capitol and Supreme Court. Cross Constitution Ave.,
walk one block to Maryland Ave. and turn left, following
it to the rally.
International Action Center-convened rally protesting the
death penalty
and voter disenfranchisement, 10 am, permit has been
granted for Freedom
Plaza and the Justice Dept. at 14th and
Pennsylvania Ave., NW.
Inaugural Parade (begins at 2 pm): Pennsylvania Ave.,
between the White
House and the Capitol:
Protesters will form in groups of 25 or fewer so
as not to exceed
the limit of number needing a permit.
(Families of 2 or 3 people could be a group.)
Counter-Inaugural Parties are planned at several sites in
the northwest sector of DC. One will be
at Kaffa House, 1212 U St. Times and addresses
for others will be posted when they are announced.
