To the DC Statehood Green Party:
The Maryland Green Party is pleased to invite the DC Statehood
Green Party to participate in our State Assembly to be held on May 12 and 13 in
Towson, Maryland. We would be
especially pleased if a representative of the DC Statehood Green Party would join
representatives from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, and the Deleware in
speaking to the full assembly of Maryland Greens on Saturday, May 12.
In addition, we are hosting the second regional Green Parties
meeting, originally organized by the Maryland, DC, and Virginia Greens. We would be pleased for you to sit in and
participate. We hope to use this assembly,
the first as a recognized political party in Maryland, to focus on our
campaigns and issues as we begin to define ourselves as a political force in state
and regional politics. Your presence
will help us to define some of the regional issues of concern, and we hope that
you can attend.
The assembly will also provide some issue forums and workshops
on topics such as universal single-payer healthcare, alternative community
development, and campaign organization.
We are also pleased to announce that Matt Gonzalez, Green Party member
of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors will be attending the meeting and
will be a keynote speaker at a fundraiser on Saturday evening.
Housing will be provided, if necessary. For more information on the Maryland Green
Party’s state assembly, please visit <www.mdgreens.org/assembly.html>. Please respond by e-mail, mail, or give me a
call if you can attend.
We would also very much appreciate it if you can pass along
this invitation to your membership.
Please let us know if you will be attending, and if you will require
housing and/or lunch on Saturday and Sunday. The registration fee is $20 for general registration, $10 for
students, seniors, and low income, and $5 for each lunch, although no one will
be turned away for lack of funds.
We will be happy to offer free registration to a representative
or representatives who will speak to the full assembly. Please let us know if you would like to
appoint a representative so that we can put them on the agenda.
I look forward to hearing from you.
